About Us
Welcome to the official Web site for information regarding the Phase I and Phase II SR 8 construction projects in northern Summit County.
The close proximity of Akron and Cleveland has spurred major economic growth and development along the SR 8 corridor. Once a rural roadway, the majority of SR 8 has undergone improvements to meet the growing traffic demand as the corridor has developed. Since its initial construction, SR 8 has evolved into one of northeast Ohio’s busiest highways and has become outdated and unable to efficiently manage the number of vehicles using the corridor each day.
Traffic projections indicate if improvements were not made, conditions would continue to deteriorate. ODOT has dedicated a great deal of time and resources to redesigning the SR 8 corridor to meet the needs of more than 57,000 daily users needing relief from congestion and improvement to the flow of traffic.
ODOT has worked diligently and closely with local officials and emergency service providers from the City of Macedonia, the Village of Boston Heights, Hudson, and Northfield Center Township to assure the most successful completion of a much needed project.
